Chocolate Shards.
If you’ve struggled to get out Christmas shopping this year, here is a quick and easy recipe that would make a lovely present for someone. You can use milk or dark chocolate depending on your preference, but dark chocolate is healthier. This is because it contains magnesium and iron and is also a rich source of antioxidant which helps to boost the immune system. The higher the cocoa percentage (70 % or more) is the best type I recommend using. This recipe is taken from 4 Ingredients, easy Christmas recipes by Kim McCosker.
Ingredients.
1. 200 grams milk or dark chocolate
2. Whatever toppings you want to use e.g. chopped or whole nuts, goji berries, freeze-dried raspberries or hundreds and thousands.
Method.
1. Melt 200 grams milk or dark chocolate in a microwave on high power in 30 second increments until nice and smooth. I used a microwave proof jug and tested with a spatular each time to feel if it had melted or not.
2. Once melted pour the chocolate on to a baking tray that you have lined with greaseproof paper.
3. Sprinkle with your topping, I used toasted whole hazelnuts, and then place it in the fridge for 15 minutes or until set.
4. Cut or break into random shards.
5. I placed mine into Christmasy cellophane bags and tied them with a bow.
6. Store them in a cool place until ready to give as presents.
